Your Leadership Toolbox: Sharpen, Repair, Replace

Happy Wednesday!

Welcome to Leadership Unscripted. Each edition, we share 1 Case Study, 1 Framework, 1 Question. These are real moments and practical strategies for rethinking your approach to leadership.

Let’s dive in.

1 Case Study

When Jackson took over as SVP of a growing team, he didn’t start with a five-year vision.
He started by asking:
What’s working? What’s missing? And what’s getting in our way?

The team was a mix of new hires, longtime contributors, and a few high performers who had grown skeptical after multiple leadership changes.
There wasn’t outright dysfunction, but there wasn’t alignment either.

In the first few months, Jackson held 1:1s, walked the floor, and invited feedback during team meetings. But what he heard felt fragmented. People were operating on different definitions of success. And when he asked about the team’s culture, the answers ranged from “fast-paced” to “exhausting” to “pretty reactive.”

That’s when he paused and pulled the team into an off-site.
Not to force togetherness.
But to rebuild clarity.

Over a one-day Thrive. Off-Site, they defined three things:

  • The kind of team they wanted to be

  • The behaviors that supporting their culture

  • The shared values they’d use to hold each other accountable

The conversations weren’t always comfortable. Some assumptions got challenged. Some tensions surfaced. But by the end of the day, they left with alignment that hadn’t existed before.

And here’s what changed:

✔️ Less backchanneling
✔️ More shared ownership of priorities
✔️ Faster decisions, clearer expectations, stronger follow-through

Not because everyone got along.
Because they finally had the same playbook.

🧭 Want to Realign Your Team Before Culture Sets In?

If you’ve recently hired new leaders, experienced reorgs, or just sense team cohesion isn’t where it should be—this is the moment to pause and realign.

Our Thrive. Off-Sites are immersive, single or multi-day sessions that help leadership teams define success, strengthen trust, and build the culture they want to scale. These are not retreats. They’re facilitated, strategy-centered resets designed to drive alignment and clarity.

You’ll get the tools to:

✅ Identify and resolve silent misalignments
✅ Build shared leadership norms rooted in values
✅ Align on goals, behaviors, and accountability

Off-sites can stand alone or be paired with our signature workshops—like Leading Through Change, The 5 C’s of Effective Leadership, or a custom Leadership Charter session.

Fall is the perfect window to recalibrate before Q4 or kick off 2026 with intention.

1 Framework

Your Leadership Toolbox

Culture isn’t built through intention alone. It’s shaped by what you sharpen, what you ignore, and what you’re willing to replace.

Try this diagnostic with your team—or in your next leadership meeting:

  • Sharp Tools
What are our strengths? Where are we excelling as a team?

  • Dull Tools
What skills or behaviors have become rusty—or need refinement?

  • Missing Tools
What’s missing from our leadership approach that would change how we operate?

This exercise is deceptively simple. But when done in a safe, facilitated setting, it uncovers blind spots and re-centers your culture-building efforts.

1 Question

Culture builds fast. Misalignment builds faster. 👉 What leadership behavior are you tolerating, potentially turning into a liability if left unaddressed?
